Position Overview:
As a Patient Intake Specialist at Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego, you will evaluate the requirements of our new patients, arrange appointments, provide referrals, and facilitate care coordination for individuals in need.
Team Collaboration:
You will actively contribute as a vital member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, upholding the organization’s philosophy of care to ensure the safety and well-being of every patient.
Compensation:
Pay Range: $30/hr. to $46/hr.
Work Schedule:
Full Time: Monday to Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to both routine and urgent calls directed to the Intake Department.
- Evaluate patients for potential suicidality, homicidality, and other hazardous behaviors.
- Provide DSM-5 diagnoses in collaboration with the psychiatrist.
- Complete managed care authorizations for patient treatment.
- Coordinate with other hospital departments to arrange patient care.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as part of a cohesive team.
- Address legal matters related to patient care, including 5150 criteria, conservatorships, and issues involving minors.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in applying principles of abnormal psychology and understanding mental health issues.
- Familiarity with psychological, sociological, and medical terminology.
- Strong analytical and evaluative skills; adept at problem-solving.
- Excellent verbal communication skills; legible handwriting.
- Ability to focus on tasks and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality; basic data entry and typing skills are preferred.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field in behavioral health sciences.
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR) certification.
