POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role involves the upkeep and repair of the organization's harbor mobile cranes. To excel in this position, candidates must successfully complete each essential duty. The qualifications listed below reflect the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of two years' experience in the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of Liebherr or comparable cargo cranes and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience as a full diesel mechanic, including two years in equipment maintenance, repairs, operations, and maintenance programs; extensive knowledge of crane operations, methods, and techniques (software, hydraulic, electrical).
  • Liebherr crane certification may substitute for Basic Electrical certification or Electronics certification with high voltage systems.
  • Strong understanding of methods, techniques, and procedures for maintenance repairs and parts replacement.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in basic English.
  • Capability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on the company's harbor mobile cranes.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on Liebherr cranes.
  • Execute routine checks on crane diesel engines and fuel systems.
  • Troubleshoot and check hydraulic and electrical systems of spreaders.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems of cranes.
  • Conduct routine checks before each crane is utilized for loading and unloading operations.
  • Carry out periodic inspections on the crane boom.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must pass physical and/or DOT screening, along with other applicable tests.
  • Frequent requirements include sitting, climbing, bending, squatting, repetitive foot and wrist motions, finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Continuous requirements include talking, hearing, standing, walking, reaching forward, and grasping.
  • Occasional requirements include kneeling, crawling, twisting, reaching overhead, pinching, and repetitive foot motion.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds, pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

SAFETY PROTOCOLS:

  • Report safety hazards immediately.
  • Promptly report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as directed by the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Refuse any unsafe tasks or operations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain awareness of personal safety and that of coworkers.

SUPERVISION:

This position reports directly to the Mechanics Manager and does not supervise any other positions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Exposure to various environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind, and high humidity during day and night shifts.
  • Occasional work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Exposure to heights.
  • Noise levels in the work environment are typically moderate to high.
  • Exposure to moderate vibration through hands when using power tools and throughout the body when operating cranes.
