About the Role

RSM US LLP is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for providing compliance and consulting services to corporations, utilizing your expertise in taxation to guide clients through M&A transactions and capital account analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Review: Conduct technical review of tax workpapers, tax returns of Corporations Federal and State returns to provide high-quality work product.
  • Client Advisory: Advise clients on a full spectrum of corporate tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and general mergers and acquisitions activities.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as Career Advisor, Mentor or Coach to one or more employees, providing honest and timely performance feedback.
  • New Business Development: Assist with new business development, extended service, and tax issue recognition for existing clients.
  • Staff Development: Develop, motivate, and train staff-level team members.
  • Client Management: Manage corporate client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance.
  • Tax Research: Review and research tax questions related to income tax compliance for federal, state, ASC 740, purposes.
  • Client Relationships: Develop and sustain strong client relationships.
  • Industry Knowledge: Keep up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
  • Communication: Ensure effective, pro-active communication with external and internal stakeholders as necessary.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) / Bachelor of Business Management (Finance)
  • Experience: 8 years' experience working in a public accounting firm with current tax experience with a strong background in Partnerships, S Corporations and C Corporations and Commercial industries. ASC740 experience is preferred.
  • Qualifications: A proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships. A proven record of simultaneously managing multiple projects and engagement teams for various clients. EA or CPA certification. Strong Communication and presentation skills. Having experience in business/client-facing role. Good Project management and critical thinking skills. Experience of 2 years of doing technical review of simple/moderate/complex tax returns/workpapers. Experience in a public accounting firm.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master of Business administration (Finance), a plus
  • Experience: Experience of working for a Big 4 or large national accounting firm. Proficient in corporate taxation and consolidated tax returns.
  • Skills: Technical/Substantive review and analysis of federal, state partnership, S corporation tax returns to provide high-quality work product. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information. Review the calculation of ASC 740 tax provisions, a plus. Experience in dealing with international tax matters, a plus. Familiarity with tax research tools (Bloomberg BNA, RIA/Thompson Checkpoint, CCH Answer Connect etc.) and tax preparation technology (CCH Axcess preferred).
