Overview of the Adult Program Nurse Role

As an Adult Program Nurse at Melmark New England, you will play a crucial role in managing and addressing health issues for individuals in our adult day and residential programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the highest standard of personalized health care. Schedule and Compensation Information
  • Compensation begins at $85,000 annually, based on experience.
  • This is a full-time position with flexible scheduling options, including on-call rotations and occasional weekend and holiday coverage.
Qualifications for the Adult Program Nurse
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a preference for a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse candidates are also considered.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Massachusetts Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a developmental disabilities setting, with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with DPH MAP procedures.
Key Responsibilities of the Adult Program Nurse
  • Identify, manage, and resolve health concerns for individuals in the adult day and residential program.
  • Oversee operational aspects of individual health care areas.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Deliver direct, safe, efficient, and high-quality nursing care.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely creation and documentation of nursing care plans and treatment strategies.
  • Facilitate continuity of care and discharge planning.
  • Transcribe and execute physicians' orders.
  • Provide health education and training to individuals and their families.
  • Act as a liaison between individuals, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Address individual and family concerns and respond to crisis situations.
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for individual care and employee safety.
  • Take responsibility for infection control measures.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide leadership and training.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and supplies for healthcare services.
  • Actively participate in committees and assist in employee orientation training.
  • Support consulting medical staff and serve as a pharmacy liaison.
