Position Overview

As a Clinical Nurse for Adult Programs at Melmark New England, you will be responsible for managing and addressing health concerns for individuals in our adult day and residential services. This role presents a distinctive opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the highest standards of personalized health care. Unlike conventional nursing roles, you will engage deeply with the individuals we support, delivering comprehensive care tailored to their specific needs. Schedule and Compensation
  • Starting salary is competitive, based on experience
  • This is a full-time role with flexible scheduling options, including on-call duties and occasional weekend and holiday shifts
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred; Registered Nurse candidates are also considered
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Massachusetts Board of Nurse Examiners
  • At least three (3) years of clinical experience in a developmental disabilities environment, with a minimum of one (1) year in a supervisory capacity preferred
  • Familiarity with DPH MAP procedures
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, manage, and resolve health issues for individuals in the adult day and residential programs
  • Oversee operational aspects of individual health care areas
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality nursing care
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Ensure timely creation and documentation of nursing care plans and treatment strategies
  • Facilitate continuity of care and discharge planning
  • Transcribe and execute physicians' orders
  • Provide health education and teaching to individuals and their families
  • Act as a liaison between individuals, families, and healthcare providers
  • Address individual and family concerns and respond to crisis situations
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for individual care and staff safety
  • Take responsibility for infection control measures
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide leadership and training
  • Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for healthcare services
  • Participate actively in committees and employee orientation training
  • Assist with consulting medical staff and pharmacy coordination
