Overview:

InsideHigherEd is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Maintenance Technician I. This position involves executing proficient and specialized maintenance tasks on institutional facilities and associated properties. The selected individual will operate under the guidance of the Mechanical Services Superintendent and other supervisory personnel.

Work Schedule: The hours for this role are Thursday-Monday 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform skilled general maintenance on institutional buildings, grounds, and related properties, including snow removal duties.
  • Exhibit advanced skills in multiple areas such as carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and machinery upkeep. Responsibilities may include constructing partitions, repairing furniture, and executing minor plumbing tasks.
  • Engage in painting tasks from surface preparation to final coat application.
  • Conduct complex repairs on vehicles and motorized equipment, including driving trucks and other machinery as necessary.
  • Handle electrical and mechanical installations, including heating and air conditioning systems. Responsibilities may include installing light electrical fixtures and repairing various electric-operated equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required, including snow removal.
  • May oversee the work of Maintenance Technician II's, Groundskeepers, Custodians, or other support staff.
  • Operate all motorized equipment and ensure certification when applicable.
  • Maintain effective written, verbal, and computer communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance or related fields.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs.
