MTA is actively seeking full-time Transit Operators. We value candidates who prioritize exceptional customer service. Comprehensive training is provided, including assistance in obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) through a structured paid training program that includes full-time hours and benefits.
New employees will begin at a training wage of $22.98, progressing to $24.52 upon successful completion of the initial training period. The full salary range is between $22.98 and $30.65, with non-exempt status in accordance with FLSA regulations.

Mason Transit Authority offers a competitive benefits package, which includes:
- 95% employer-paid Medical/Dental/Vision coverage for employees and their dependents, effective from the first day of the month after obtaining the required CDL license and endorsements.

- 11 paid holidays and vacation accrual based on years of service, starting at 3.69 hours per pay period (equivalent to 12 days per year).

This position is also eligible for longevity premiums after ten years of service, uniform reimbursements, and potential additional compensation for specific circumstances such as inclement weather or training participation.
Position Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Transit Operator will be responsible for:
- Safely operating passenger vehicles along designated routes while adhering to traffic regulations and MTA policies.
- Providing excellent customer service and assisting passengers as needed.
- Conducting pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness.
- Collecting fares and ensuring compliance with fare policies.
- Maintaining a clean and professional appearance, adhering to uniform standards.
- Engaging in ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications include:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- General knowledge of the Mason County area.
- A valid Washington State driver's license and a minimum of five years of licensed driving experience.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of a background check and medical certification.
Preferred qualifications include a valid CDL with passenger endorsement and prior experience in customer service.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
Operators must be able to:
- Work varying shifts and endure exposure to different weather conditions.
- Lift up to 40 pounds and perform tasks requiring physical stamina.
- Maintain focus and professionalism in a dynamic work environment.
