DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role encompasses a variety of tasks related to the management and coordination of leave programs within the organization, including family medical leave and disability assistance, while also providing support for retirement planning.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service to all employees and management
  • Manages the family medical leave (FML) process in compliance with relevant laws and policies
  • Guides employees and management on the relationship between FMLA regulations and other benefits
  • Assists employees with inquiries regarding short- and long-term disability
  • Collaborates with the Risk Management Department to coordinate leave and job accommodation requests
  • Ensures confidentiality of employee medical records in line with applicable laws
  • Keeps thorough and precise records of leave and accommodation requests in compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Oversees the reintegration process for employees returning from leave
  • Ensures all documentation is properly archived in electronic personnel files
  • Prepares analytical reviews for employees in the retirement systems, including:
    • Creating retirement profiles
    • Reviewing and submitting retirement applications
    • Providing comprehensive information to employees
    • Advising on retirement options and responsibilities
    • Conducting informational sessions regarding retirement choices
  • Works in tandem with the Payroll Department to ensure accurate communication of employee leave for payroll processing
  • Offers support to fellow Human Resources staff during peak workload periods
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality
  • Exemplifies non-discriminatory practices in all responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Required: an associate degree in human resources, benefits administration, business, finance or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in leave management and/or disability programs preferred
  • Experience in coordinating retirement benefits; familiarity with Virginia Retirement System is a plus
  • Must possess strong communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of staff and external contacts
  • Experience with HR/Payroll systems such as Munis is preferred
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to benefits administration and leave policies
