About the Orthopedic Trauma Unit:

  • Oversee patient care in our 32-bed Orthopedic and Trauma Unit, focusing on total hip and knee replacements, elective shoulder surgeries, and traumatic orthopedic injuries.
  • Administer intravenous antibiotics for patients with joint infections and manage medical-surgical overflow cases.
  • Employ telemetry monitoring to guarantee patient safety and optimal health outcomes.
  • Work alongside interdisciplinary teams to formulate and execute comprehensive care strategies.
  • Uphold high standards of nursing practice and comply with hospital policies and procedures.

Nursing Support and Staffing:

  • The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically maintained at 1:5-6 during day shifts and 1:6-7 during night shifts.
  • Licensed Practical Nurses assist in managing patient loads, and charge nurses may provide direct patient care support.
  • Support staff includes Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other personnel to ensure efficient operations.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program with completion within 5 years of hire date. RNs with 10 or more years of experience are exempt.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s in Nursing.
  • Required License/Certifications: Current licensure as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing; eNLC license may apply.
  • Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider.
  • Preferred Experience: One year of hospital nursing experience.
