Machining Operations Supervisor Job Description

Title: Machining Operations Supervisor

Classification: Non-exempt

Reports to: Director of Operations

Department: Machining

Position Overview: The Machining Operations Supervisor is tasked with managing all personnel within the machine shop to uphold safety protocols, quality benchmarks, and effective production workflows. This role requires collaboration with team leaders to enhance production methodologies and optimize equipment utilization. Exceptional leadership and communication abilities are crucial, alongside a dedication to ongoing improvement and development within Idaho Steel Products, Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance quality, productivity, safety, and team morale in the machine shop environment.
  • Foster the development of team skills and capabilities.
  • Oversee budgeting and expense management for machining departments.
  • Work closely with management on production timelines and project assessments.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and maintain effective communication with the management team.
  • Ensure the quality and efficiency of machinery and equipment.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in machining processes, including equipment setup, operation, and programming.
  • Accurately read and interpret technical blueprints.
  • Exhibit strong mathematical and metalworking competencies.
  • Adhere to established safety policies and practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Capability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Engage in repetitive tasks such as typing and computer work.
  • Utilize necessary personal protective equipment.
