The Fuels Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) Department Manager will offer both managerial and technical guidance to facilitate the scientific endeavors of our staff engaged in fuels PIE and performance assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead departmental activities through subordinate supervisors and staff, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while fostering employee empowerment.
  • Accountable for a specific function and technical discipline, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies to optimize talent utilization and growth.
  • Provide direction to team members within the framework of established company policies.
  • Propose policy modifications and establish procedures that influence departmental or cross-disciplinary functions, driven by monitoring and evaluation for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the effective management of significant operational activities, with decisions impacting team dynamics and influencing methodologies.
  • Develop financial plans, business strategies, and workforce priorities, ensuring realistic budgetary and performance benchmarks are established and met.
  • Coordinate intricate research priorities with other research leaders to ensure adherence to expected timelines.
  • Collaborate with subordinate supervisors, clients, and professional peers across functions to build cohesive and effective teams.
  • Receive assignments based on objectives and allocate resources to achieve schedules and targets, integrating these resources into the overall mission schedule.
  • Assist in formulating both departmental and long-term strategic goals, contributing to the division's objectives.
  • Engage with key contacts outside of your expertise and with external partners.
  • Communicate results and recommendations across various departments.
  • Typically report to a Director, Senior Director, or Senior Leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 6 years, or Doctorate with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • The preferred candidate will possess a degree in nuclear science, engineering, or a related field, with knowledge of nuclear fuels, materials, irradiation testing, and post-irradiation examination.
  • The ideal candidate must be eligible to obtain an "L" clearance, which necessitates U.S. citizenship.

Compensation Information:

  • The target salary range for this role is $137,205 - $203,855 annually, with a full pay range of $103,032 - $262,740. Compensation decisions are based on factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
