Position Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while complying with all relevant policies and regulatory standards.

This role involves the retrieval, research, and organization of financial data into comprehensive reports. The analyst must possess the ability to establish and manage spreadsheets and databases, as well as identify financial trends and drivers.

It is essential for the Senior Financial Analyst to assess the reasonableness of analyses and rectify any discrepancies. The position requires effective time management, scheduling, prioritization, and communication skills in both written and verbal formats.

Building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and external consultancies is crucial. A deep understanding of complex financial concepts and accounting principles is necessary, along with the ability to interpret and communicate these concepts clearly. The analyst must demonstrate critical thinking skills, particularly in high-pressure situations, to make timely decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the monthly review and analysis of operational performance in relation to financial and productivity objectives.
  • Monitor budget performance by analyzing actual expenditures and budget variances.
  • Prepare and interpret financial reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate coordination across financial systems to ensure consistency across various platforms and stakeholders.
  • Support finance and operational leadership during the annual budget planning process, contributing to the creation of accurate and optimized fiscal year budgets.
  • Conduct financial analyses to assist in decision-making regarding requests from physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Health Administration (MHA), or a Master's degree in a relevant analytical field.
  • Five years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare sector.
