POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for directing and overseeing all stages of construction projects, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, coordinating personnel, materials, and equipment, supervising subcontractors and team members, and confirming that specifications are met while maintaining project timelines, budget constraints, and quality benchmarks.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all facets of the construction site: coordinate, schedule, direct, monitor, and evaluate all subcontractors, suppliers, labor, and materials, while mentoring foremen and crew members.
  • Monitor and control project timelines and associated costs to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Enforce job safety measures and training; uphold safety programs and OSHA standards as necessary, ensuring subcontractor compliance with Stella May standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with project managers and engineers regarding daily construction activities.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of all contract documents to familiarize with all details, notes, and requirements.
  • Ensure quality standards are upheld across all projects, including contractor performance, and verify that all quality assurance and company standards are met.
  • Provide guidance in addressing construction challenges encountered on-site.
  • Offer technical support regarding construction techniques and equipment.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop all field staff at Stella May, including providing input on performance evaluations.
  • Maintain strict adherence to ethical and compliance standards at all times.
  • Identify potential changes in conditions and communicate them to the Project Manager.
  • Assist in preparing written reports or updates (both internal and external) for management, clients, and project teams to ensure a clear understanding of project status.
  • Manage and make decisions related to work performance concerning scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and staffing levels.
  • Oversee collaboration among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation, resolving local issues regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, labor and equipment adequacy, scheduling, and other relevant matters.
  • Act as a liaison among owner representatives, inspection agencies, staff, and subcontractors.
  • Manage the General Conditions and General Requirements for the project to maintain budgetary compliance.
  • Ensure that work is completed in accordance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
  • Approve time sheets and complete other personnel-related paperwork.
  • Submit 3-Week Look-Ahead Schedules.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in gas distribution or related underground utility construction.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret general and subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications, as well as construction methods, means, and materials.
  • Familiarity with construction cost control and basic accounting practices.
  • Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • In-depth understanding of OSHA regulations and safe working practices.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients to foster and maintain long-term relationships.
  • Proficient in computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Office suite programs.
  • Knowledge of Pro Core scheduling is advantageous.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to stand and walk the project site throughout each shift.
  • Capable of passing a respiratory fit test if required in certain environments.
  • Able to access all areas of a project site to inspect work and communicate with employees.
  • Regular physical effort, including standing, is required during a standard work shift of at least eight hours.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and to stoop, bend, and crouch as necessary to perform key duties.
  • Requires climbing ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers, often with narrow steps and passageways.
  • Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes while operating hand power tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds independently, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, lumber, and other construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Capable of operating concrete vibrators for extended periods.
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations using ladders or crawling as required.
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work environment may expose employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust typically associated with construction projects.
  • Regularly work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve exposure to various substances commonly found on construction sites, such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
