Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Whitten Regional Center, a residential facility in Clinton, SC. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing daily nursing care, training, activities, and treatment to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in accordance with all licensing and certification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and DDSN policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures.
- Monitor health conditions of the individuals and report findings to medical providers and appropriate staff. Assist physicians/practitioners with examinations and treatments as needed.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary living and working environment.
- Ensure accountability and protection from harm for all individuals through appropriate and thorough documentation.
- Review monthly medication administration records and 90-day recertification orders, complete healthcare records, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing, and SAOM evaluations. Assist with weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures. Properly document as needed.
- Participate in on-call rotation procedures and perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Salary Information
The salary range for this position is $52,000 to $57,396 per year, based on verified work-related nursing experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance, as well as paid annual leave, sick leave, and holidays.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.
- Licensure as a licensed practical nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of practical nursing procedures.
- Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices.
- Knowledge of the human anatomy.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail.
- Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of individuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and laws.
- Ability to work effectively with people from various socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team.
- Ability to lift and move individuals.
- General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to work in a group home-like setting or ICF.
- Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
