About Whitten Regional Center

Whitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, located in Clinton, SC. The center serves residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

This role provides nursing care to individuals in designated units, ensuring their acute medical needs are met. In the absence of the Nurse Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining the overall health of the facility. Management of medications and procedures adheres to pharmacy and nursing procedure guidelines. Regular documentation and participation in rehabilitation programs are also essential aspects of this position.

The successful candidate will function as the healthcare coordinator of assigned units, managing responsibilities outlined in the Health Care Guidelines. Key duties include:

* Assisting in planning and delivering nursing care while assessing individual needs and initiating necessary interventions according to relevant licensing and certification requirements.

* Providing guidance and developing nursing staff to ensure high-quality care, treatment, and activities for all residents.

* Conducting assessments to identify symptoms of physical or emotional illness, formulating plans of care, and evaluating outcomes in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team on integrating the nursing care plan into the Individual Support Plan (ISP).

* Performing clinical skills competently and maintaining a clean, safe environment. Additionally, training and acting as a resource for nursing staff are critical components of this role.

* Participating in activities assigned by the Nurse Supervisor.

Benefits Package:

This position offers an exceptional benefits package, including 15 days annual leave accrual per year, 15 days sick leave, 13 paid holidays, paid parental leave, health, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance. State retirement plan and deferred compensation programs are also available.

Salary Information:

The salary range for this position is $77,500 to $85,543, determined based on verified work-related nursing experience. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible candidates. This incentive will be distributed after one, six, and twelve months of continuous full-time employment. The shift differential rate is up to $6.25/hour for applicable shifts.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing is also mandatory. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of the nursing profession, medical terminology, and administrative methods. Effective communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for success in this role. Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations, work collaboratively as part of a team, and maintain confidentiality are also vital characteristics.
