Position Overview:

The key responsibility of this role is to innovate and implement enhancements in processes and machinery to boost manufacturing productivity and output. This position requires adeptness in addressing intricate technical issues, necessitating familiarity with Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies, particularly Kaizen.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and execute projects that enhance manufacturing productivity utilizing Kaizen methodologies across our operations.
  • Evaluate manufacturing workflows to improve operational efficiency; compare with industry standards and devise strategies for implementation.
  • Ensure optimal operation of production lines, innovate new methods, adjust existing designs, and oversee process enhancement projects.
  • Support equipment reliability initiatives and ensure that Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and safety standards are consistently upheld throughout the facility.
  • Gather and analyze data across various manufacturing sectors (Roasting, Grinding, Blending, Packaging) to achieve overall efficiencies and enhance equipment reliability; this includes planning, inspections, quality objectives, and daily schedule adherence to meet targeted metrics.
  • Examine operational inefficiencies and challenges; perform root cause analysis of equipment malfunctions.
  • Drive metrics and return on investment through CI initiatives; collaborate with teams to assess conditions and evaluate current process performance to resolve issues.
  • Work with teams on strategic projects related to efficiencies and equipment utilization; communicate technical opportunities and propose solutions to management.
  • Develop and maintain training resources and assist in the instruction and coaching of plant personnel.
  • Encourage process improvement training and workshops to foster a culture of change.
  • Educate manufacturing teams and implement continuous improvement methodologies including Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Kaizen principles.
  • Conduct advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping, budget development, and cost analysis to assess project viability.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize operational expenses where applicable.
  • Coordinate and collaborate as necessary with engineering, maintenance, research and development, procurement, department managers, and frontline teams to enhance processes.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with clients, equipment suppliers, and material vendors; serve as a technical liaison with OEMs.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are standardized, thoroughly documented, safe, and compliant with regulations.
  • Implement performance and improvement strategies that yield positive and measurable outcomes.
  • Promote a positive and safe work environment that encourages teamwork, trust, empowerment, and innovation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years in a Continuous Improvement/Engineering role with a focus on Kaizen methodologies.
  • Kaizen Leadership Certification is highly preferred; certification as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is advantageous.
  • Experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environment is preferred.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to driving resolutions and acting as a change agent; project management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lead change across the entire manufacturing/supply chain and manage complex technical projects.
  • Must demonstrate strategic thinking and thought leadership with proven examples of implementing complex changes in a manufacturing setting.
  • Willingness to ask challenging questions to ensure optimal solutions are identified and executed.
  • Proficient in Data Collection Analysis (DCA).
  • Adept at collaborative problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with all organizational levels.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and statistical software; capability to interpret schematics.
  • Training in Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies is required.
  • Prior experience in a Continuous Improvement-focused environment is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching abilities are necessary.
  • Capable of guiding and training frontline employees.
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with business software (including drawing applications) are required.
Food Safety Responsibilities:

Compliance with all Federal, State, Corporate, Warehouse, and Food Safety standards, including policies and guidelines such as HACCP, GMP, SQF, FDA, etc., is mandatory. Adhere to Safe Quality Food (SQF) regulations and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
