Position Overview: The Chemical Process Specialist is driven by a desire to comprehend operational mechanisms and enhance their efficiency. This role requires a proactive problem-solver who collaborates effectively across all organizational levels to achieve objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor production processes to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, compliance, quality, efficiency, throughput, equipment reliability, waste reduction, and cost management.
  • Provide engineering support for both capital and operational projects, including scope development, material and energy balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment sizing.
  • Collaborate with Process Chemists on new product launches, waste reduction initiatives, energy efficiency, cycle time optimization, and asset effectiveness improvements.
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations, management of change, pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs), and process hazard analyses (PHAs).
  • Optimize product mix and flexibility across production lines.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Work closely with operators, maintenance personnel, and chemists to meet production demands.
  • Engage actively in Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Plan (RMP), and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a regulated chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Self-motivated with a strong inclination towards troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of batch processing operations and root cause analysis.
  • Proficient in process optimization and effective communication.
  • Familiarity with Pi and Delta V systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of PSM and its operational requirements.
