Job Summary

This role provides technical expertise regarding accounting issues, SEC reporting, and regulatory information and research. The ideal candidate will have extensive specialized knowledge and act as an internal consultant or final authority in their area of expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance on major transactions and product development
  • Review SEC disclosure and regulatory reporting information
  • Communicate practices and procedures for proper financial control
  • Work on implementation of new or revised accounting standards
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate Controllers accounting and governance policies and procedures
  • Ensure the monthly close is effective by analyzing the income statement/balance sheet/yields
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Monitor system conversations
  • Work with Internal/External Auditors and Federal Reserve/OCC regulators on exams
Requirements
  • 5+ years accounting experience and 3+ years management experience
  • Previous oversight of or audit of broker-dealer or banking financial statements
  • Ability to compile and review broker-dealer financial statements including regulatory reporting of monthly and annual reporting requirements
  • Strong technical accounting experience/understanding in some or all of the following: consolidation, financial instrument transfers, derivatives and hedging, fair value
  • Ability to research and document GAAP issues in clear and concise memorandums
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead, organize, and manage projects beginning to end that require coordinated efforts across multiple functions
Preferred Qualifications
  • General ledger experience to facilitate review
  • MBA/CPA or equivalent
  • SEC & Regulatory Reporting and Accounting Policy Experience
  • Broad Capital Markets product knowledge throughout the industry inclusive of investment banking, asset-backed financing, non-market equity investments, etc.
