Senior Attorney, SEC Regulatory Compliance and Product Sales

Talcott Financial Group, a leading international life insurance group, seeks an experienced attorney to support its sales efforts and provide expert legal counsel on SEC regulations and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and provide guidance on SEC rules and filings related to registered products, including variable annuities and UITs.
- Oversee and assist with filings, potentially drafting and seeking SEC No-Action Letters and meeting with SEC personnel.
- Provide legal advice on various matters related to individual annuities, with an initial focus on MYGAs, FIAs, and distribution through IMOs.
- Ensure products and operations comply with insurance regulations, suitability, and contract terms.
Program Design & Build:
Support the organization in building its retail franchise, providing legal and business advice to the annuity retail platform.
Contract Drafting and Review:
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements related to annuity contracts, including sales, underwriting, issuance, and administration, with a focus on selling through IMOs.
Requirements:
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction and in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in SEC regulatory work, familiarity with individual annuities and UITs
- Strong understanding of insurance coverages, annuity contracts, and industry regulations
- Self-reliant, able to quickly learn new concepts, think creatively and critically, and adapt to changing needs
- Results-oriented, able to work under tight deadlines in a high-performance environment
- Ability to travel when required
