Key Responsibilities
  • Develop construction plans for transportation projects according to established local, state, and federal engineering standards and regulations.
  • Design safety and operational improvements to existing transportation systems.
  • Analyze traffic capacity and develop signal timing plans.
  • Draft signage and pavement marking plans.
  • Design roadway improvements.
  • Perform traffic capacity analysis.
  • Compose traffic operations reports.
  • Perform local/ regional field observations to observe traffic and collect data.
Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, or closely related field, and 2 years of work experience in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related occupation.

Preferred Skills
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) license.
  • Expertise/knowledge of transportation engineering geometric design principles, traffic engineering, transportation system operations, and ability to read and understand transportation engineering standards and guidelines.
  • CAD software - Microstation or AutoCAD.
  • Traffic analysis software - Synchro.
  • National and State regulations relating to transportation.
  • Strong communication skills; documented experience presenting/reporting technical engineering information to non-engineers.
Work Environment

Telecommuting is allowed. 5% domestic travel for field observations.
