We are seeking a Field Survey Chief who will oversee and assess proposed field survey initiatives, lead field survey teams, and coordinate the necessary field design survey work, construction staking, and other survey-related tasks. This role is essential for both public and private sector projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial developments, tailored to meet client objectives, budgetary constraints, timelines, regulatory requirements, and community considerations.

The ideal candidate will execute intricate surveying calculations utilizing engineering calculators, laptops, and software such as AutoCAD. Responsibilities include analyzing raw data for mathematical integrity and geometric precision, providing survey data for Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and preparing comprehensive documentation such as finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, ALTA Surveys, and corner staking reports.

Travel may be required between various project locations.

A Typical Day as a Field Survey Chief

In this role, you will lead a field survey crew responsible for conducting geodetic surveys for construction, topographic mapping, right-of-way assessments, and control survey projects. You will participate in pre-survey planning discussions with project stakeholders, assign tasks, and provide performance feedback for field survey crew members. As the senior surveyor, you will demonstrate expertise in survey and mapping techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.

Your duties will include collecting field survey data using conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methodologies, setting up and operating surveying instruments such as electronic total stations and data collectors, and preparing detailed field notes and drawings. You will also perform field surveys for infrastructure projects, including establishing control points, and marking property boundaries.
