The primary role of the Business Development Manager (BDM) is to spearhead growth initiatives through both new and existing clientele and partnerships for AEM's offerings, which include lightning detection systems, weather and hydrological sensing networks, and risk management solutions. Typical clientele includes national, state, and local agencies responsible for weather, climate, disaster risk, or water management, as well as agricultural producers and major industries such as aviation, transportation, energy, and mining.
The ideal candidate is a proactive and driven professional with a strong sales background and a deep understanding of business practices in Latin America. They should demonstrate a relentless pursuit of new opportunities and a commitment to expanding existing customer and partner relationships through innovative strategies and effective problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the go-to-market (GTM) team, which includes market, sales, marketing, channel, sales engineering, and product specialists, to create and implement a comprehensive territory strategy that identifies target market segments, opportunities, and key clients.
- Identify and assess potential customers and partners within targeted segments, evaluating solution fit, financial capacity, expertise, decision-making processes, and timelines.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their challenges and advocate for AEM's solutions.
- Promote AEM's complete suite of solutions, covering design, implementation, and managed services, to empower partners and ensure effective program management.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, funding opportunities, technological advancements, and competitive landscape to refine AEM's market positioning.
- Coordinate with AEM operations to guarantee customer satisfaction and maintain account health.
- Oversee compliance with bid requirements and deadlines, collaborating with sales engineering to manage proposal development and submissions.
- Track and manage all sales activities, forecasts, and customer information, ensuring accurate data entry in Salesforce.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts, securing necessary approvals for non-standard terms and conditions.
- Manage customer and partner accounts to ensure timely revenue generation and collections.
- Educate clients and partners on the value proposition of AEM's solutions.
- Represent AEM at relevant regional conferences and events.
- Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures in executing job responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in enterprise sales or business development with a proven track record.
- At least 3 years of experience managing clients and partners in Latin America.
- Extensive knowledge of weather or hydrology decision support solutions in both public and private sectors.
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales growth objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, meteorology, hydrology, environmental science, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in Spanish; proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese is a plus.
- Strong skills in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in selling complex technology solutions is advantageous.
- Proven ability to make sound business judgments and recommendations.
- Experience managing multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across various departments in a matrix organization.
Additional Information:
This position is remote and can be performed from anywhere in North America or Latin America. Candidates based in North America must be eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada without sponsorship.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and a 401k match of up to 3%.
The salary range for this position is estimated at $90,000 - $100,000 per year, plus commission. This range is a general guideline and may vary based on various factors.
