Role Overview

The workshop technician's primary responsibility is to perform maintenance and refurbishment tasks on subsea and surface equipment systems and related tooling packages within the workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Execute maintenance tasks, including mobilization, demobilization, periodic checks, and refurbishment of company-owned equipment.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to company operating and maintenance standards, complying with current regulations.
  • Maintain equipment records by updating maintenance systems with details of repairs and servicing.
  • Assist in the preparation and mobilization of ROV systems and associated tooling packages.
  • Engage in daily toolbox discussions with the workshop team.
  • Participate in observation systems and conduct regular STOP audits.
  • Attend safety training sessions and initiatives.
  • Adhere to established procedures for all tasks performed.
  • Comply with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations before and during operations.
  • Contribute to the development of Risk Assessments and Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA).
  • Engage in QHSE initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Promote and implement 5S and lean methodologies.
  • Assist with additional duties as required.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in the company’s competency framework to facilitate career advancement.
  • Travel internationally if needed to provide technical support on-site.
  • Attend project initiation meetings to offer technical assistance as required.

SAFETY COMMITMENT

  • Ensure understanding and adherence to safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct work in alignment with the Company’s Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems.
  • Execute assigned tasks with diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems.
  • Strive to minimize waste and advocate for environmentally friendly practices, contributing to ongoing environmental improvement.
Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Proficient knowledge in one or more areas: electronics, electrical systems, hydraulics, mechanics, mechatronics, subsea tooling, and control systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated understanding of 5S and lean principles.

PREFERRED

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with subsea and surface equipment, including ROV systems, IWOCS, Workover Systems, and tooling packages.
  • Technical degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Hydraulic Engineering.
  • Knowledge of subsea controls and operational processes.
  • Understanding of Manifold, Umbilical, and Subsea XT installation operations.
  • Certification as a 5S Champion.
  • Forklift Truck certification.
  • Overhead crane certification.

Working Conditions

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS


While fulfilling job responsibilities, employees may work indoors or outdoors during the day and occasionally at night.

Job site conditions may vary, including different indoor and outdoor climates with varying noise levels from tools and machinery.

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Employees are required to stand, walk, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Frequent lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds is necessary. Specific vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing abilities must encompass all ranges.

This position is classified as HEAVY work.

OCCASIONAL TASKS

  • Lift heavy objects.
  • Work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on the stomach/back, crawl, and perform repetitive arm and hand movements.
  • Differentiate between colors.
  • Wear PPE for skin protection.

FREQUENT TASKS

  • Lift 25-50 pounds.
  • Wear PPE for head and hands.
  • Climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift/carry objects.
  • Twist, sit with back supported, head forward/flexed, head tilted/rotated.
  • Work with arms extended below the waist, unsupported, elbows flexed, wrist supported and unsupported.
  • Operate a motor vehicle.

CONSTANT TASKS

  • Lift 10-20 pounds.
  • Stand and walk consistently.
  • Wear PPE for body, vision, and hearing protection.
  • Use steel/safety-toed shoes/boots.
