Position Overview
The role entails delivering engineering assistance, design, testing, and leadership to facilitate the commercialization of products from Oceaneering's Technology Group.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be integrated into the technology group focused on innovation within Oceaneering.
This role will support various business units with specific development initiatives that enhance value across business streams.
As part of the technology group, the engineering technician will:- Act as a pivotal leader in advancing Oceaneering's new technological initiatives.
o Engage in technical evaluations.
o Contribute to operational risk assessment processes, including HazID and HazOP.
o Assist in the assembly and testing of prototype and initial production products.
o Formulate operational procedures.
o Create testing protocols for qualification, factory acceptance, and offshore readiness assessments.
o Support CAD activities for development and testing assemblies.
- Furthermore, the engineering technician will aid in the early stages of development integration into the business unit.
This may involve:
- Executing engineering tasks necessary for preparing systems and personnel for offsite operations.
These tasks may include:
o Modifying existing equipment designs.
o Designing testing apparatus.
o Participating in operational risk evaluations.
o Drafting scopes of supply.
o Developing project-specific protocols.
- Offer support during the manufacturing, testing, and assembly phases of projects.
- Provide assistance for both onsite and offsite testing, which may include offshore support in certain cases.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
ESSENTIAL
- A minimum of one year of experience in product development.
- Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal injection) and workshop tools.
- Proficient in analyzing complex electrical control circuits for functionality, electrical loads, and failure modes.
- Formal or practical training with progressive responsibilities in electrical/electronic assembly.
- Ability to interpret, redline, and modify intricate electrical schematics.
- Experience in soldering and electrical assembly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED
- Two years of engineering experience.
- Completion of a Technical Associate's Degree is advantageous.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Familiarity with electro-hydraulic control systems.
- Knowledge of subsea industry operations is highly desirable.
- Understanding of power and communications (copper/fiber) distribution.
- Familiarity with ROVs and robotic systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and independently.
- Capacity to operate under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work under general supervision.
- Capability to thrive in high-pressure situations.
- Effectively influence the actions and opinions of others.
- Support the organization's goals and values.

This position is Hybrid - Remote and will necessitate commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business needs.
