Job Summary:The ITS Systems Technician will perform skilled technical work in the installation, configuration, maintenance, service, operation, and construction of ITS and ITS-related systems. This role will work alongside the traffic signal systems technical staff in support of the Brevard County Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) program.
Responsibilities:- Perform skilled technical work in the installation, configuration, maintenance, service, operation, and construction of ITS and ITS-related systems.
- Work alongside the traffic signal systems technical staff in support of the Brevard County Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) program.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of ITS systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on ITS equipment.
- Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic tests to identify and resolve issues with ITS systems.
- Develop and implement procedures for the maintenance and operation of ITS systems.
- Provide technical assistance and training to other staff members.
- Two (2) years of college credit [60 semester or 90 quarter hours] with major coursework in Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), or a closely related field.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in electronics, electrical engineering, transportation, or a closely related field.
- Valid Florida Driver's license and ability to maintain said license during the term of employment.
- Valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and ability to maintain said certification during the term of employment.
- International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Traffic Signal Technician certification and ability to maintain said certification during the term of employment.
- IMSA Fiber Optic Technician certification or equivalent industry-recognized certification and ability to maintain said certification during the term of employment.
- Network Plus certification or equivalent industry-recognized certification and ability to maintain said certification during the term of employment.
The ITS Systems Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The position requires the ability to work at heights above/below ground level, in cold, in dampness or chilly conditions, in heat, in high humidity, in or with dusty conditions, in or with moving objects or vehicles, in or with noisy conditions, on or with ladders or scaffolding, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and with chemicals or solvents.
The employee must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more, carry 50 lbs. or more, push 50 lbs. or more, and pull 50 lbs. or more. The employee must repetitively perform fine manipulation, pulling, pushing, and simple grasping. The employee must be able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, dig, jump, kneel, reach, and stoop. The employee must have color perception, good distant vision, good hearing, good near vision, good speech, and use of both eyes.
