The Nuclear Medicine Specialist plays a crucial role in both nuclear medicine practices and the management of radiology facilities. The responsibilities encompass:

Nuclear Medicine Responsibilities:

  • Conduct nuclear imaging procedures, such as cardiac evaluations and thyroid diagnostics, under the supervision of a Nuclear Medicine Director or physician.
  • Procure and prepare radiopharmaceuticals, administering them either orally or via injection.
  • Communicate procedural details to patients and operate advanced imaging technology, including SPECT Gamma Cameras.
  • Capture and document images, monitor patient responses, and adhere to ALARA safety protocols.
  • Maintain and calibrate nuclear imaging equipment, manage dosimeter badges, and complete all required documentation.

Radiology Facility Management Responsibilities:

  • Supervise radiology operations, including Nuclear, Ultrasound, and X-ray procedures, while mentoring staff and optimizing workflow for efficient report generation.
  • Assist X-ray and Ultrasound Technicians with report management and facilitate communication between radiology personnel and management.
  • Engage in process enhancement, data gathering, and scheduling to improve operational efficiency.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, manage licensing renewals, and support initiatives to increase patient throughput for nuclear stress tests.
  • Ensure prompt report generation, coordinate billing processes, and handle equipment upkeep and administrative responsibilities.
