Job Summary:

The Service Manager is responsible for leading the service department at Lager's of Mankato, Inc. to achieve maximum production, control costs, and build a loyal clientele. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and train service department staff, direct and schedule activities, and administer merchandising and advertising activities. The successful candidate will maintain accurate records, ensure warranty requirements are met, and provide technical assistance to employees as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve service department efficiency and productivity.
  • Recruit, train, and develop service department staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Direct and schedule the activities of service department employees to ensure maximum production and customer satisfaction.
  • Administer merchandising and advertising activities to promote the service department and attract new customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of service department activities, including warranty requirements and repair procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to service department employees as needed to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Conduct regular meetings with service department employees to discuss activities, problems, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an auto dealership service department.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate and train service department staff.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college or technical degree preferred.
