Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Fitness Class Instructor to join our team at the Appalachian Institute for Health and Wellness. As a Group Fitness Class Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching group exercise classes to a diverse range of populations, utilizing your knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach scheduled classes, providing a safe and effective workout experience for participants
  • Develop and implement engaging group fitness programs, incorporating music, tempo, and rhythm
  • Assist participants, answer questions, and maintain a positive exercise environment
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for participants
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse levels of education and fitness knowledge
  • Experience teaching group exercise classes to a wide range of populations
  • Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles
  • Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and incorporation of music, tempo, and rhythm
  • Ability to be professional, motivate, and collaborate with others
Preferred Qualifications
  • Group Class instructor certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of accepting the position
Working Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is generally loud within the facility and while performing duties.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and listen. The employee is occasionally required to use hands, fingers, operate exercise equipment; reach, climb, balance; step, or kneel.

Compensation

Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity, and market considerations.
