The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer for the Foundation Board of Directors, overseeing the administration of Foundation programs and grantmaking activities. This role requires a strong understanding of governance, financial management, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities- Governance: Ensure the Board adheres to the Articles of Incorporation and relevant federal and state laws and regulations.
- Financial Management: Oversee the investment of assets and disbursement of funds, implementing recommendations on program policies and procedures.
- Operational Leadership: Direct the management of the grantmaking organization, overseeing staff and implementing programs such as Women in Science and the Child Health Recognition Awards.
- Communication and Representation: Represent the Foundation to foster collaborative programs and projects with stakeholders, including senior management, university presidents, and officials.
- Eight years of experience working with foundation boards.
- Demonstrated statewide awareness and understanding.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in research and analysis, project management, and excellent management skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with senior management and high-level external contacts.
- Integrity, judgment, and diplomacy in response to sensitive requests for funding.
- Experience in public service and/or foundations required.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus, but not required.
- Minimum advanced degree in finance, business, liberal arts, social sciences, or law.
