Rural Peer Support Specialist
Allen College is in search of a Rural Peer Support Specialist. This role reports directly to the Community Outreach Coordinator and is essential in assisting with recruitment initiatives aimed at rural students, both on and off campus.
The Peer Support Specialist will provide guidance and assistance to prospective, newly admitted, and current rural students, helping them navigate their transition into college life and beyond.
In accordance with the Clery Act, Allen College publishes an Annual Security report that includes crime statistics from the past three years, along with institutional policies regarding campus safety and fire safety measures. A paper copy is available upon request.

Key Responsibilities:
Monitor Allen College email regularly for updates from the Community Outreach Coordinator and respond to student inquiries as needed.
Maintain punctuality for all scheduled activities.
Notify the Community Outreach Coordinator and/or students if you are unable to attend events or need to cancel appointments.
Complete and submit timesheets by the designated deadlines.Serve as a role model.
Assist the Community Outreach Coordinator during recruitment events and share personal experiences as a rural student at Allen College.
Most work will occur during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, though some evening and weekend commitments may be required.
With guidance, comply with all college travel policies and documentation.Exhibit a commitment to the mission, goals, and core values of Allen College.
Demonstrate the UnityPoint Health FOCUS Values and adhere to established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Work effectively under the daily mental and physical demands of the role, which include engaging with students, attending recruitment events, and collaborating with the public, students, faculty, and staff.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at Allen College, having completed at least one semester and maintaining good academic standing.
Graduated from one of the designated rural high schools in Iowa.
Exhibit responsibility, dependability, and maturity.
Possess effective communication skills.
Be friendly, patient, and sensitive to a diverse range of students.
