Job Title: Mortgage Loan Originator

D.R. Horton, Inc. is a leading homebuilder in the U.S. We are seeking a skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join our Financial Services team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to promote and provide business development, origination of loans, and relationship management with customers and clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mortgage banking and be able to apply common sense to carry out instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview mortgage applicants to understand their financing options and educate them on potential loan programs.
  • Be accessible to buyers and individuals involved in a loan to answer questions and provide updates.
  • Maintain reports and notes within the origination software and customer relationship management systems.
  • Review new leads daily and contact them to earn their business.
  • Daily pipeline management to ensure a smooth loan process for all parties involved.
  • Make presentations on loan products in sales meetings and with sales staff in builder communities.
  • Quickly respond to operations to facilitate an efficient loan process.
  • Provide necessary disclosures to loan applicants within a timely manner in accordance with regulations.
  • Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
  • Able to work overtime and travel overnight.
  • Market the company's products and services accurately and effectively to potential business sources.
  • Develop sales leads for mortgages in builder communities and real estate offices.
  • Provide weekend coverage in builder communities and grand opening functions.
  • Review all documentation provided by borrowers, check for accuracy, and address any discrepancies.
  • Be familiar and comply with all company QC policies, review updates to the manual, and attend meetings as necessary.
  • Provide input to management and attend production/staff meetings.
  • Infrequently, assist in resolving post-closing/funding problems.
  • Attend loan closings when possible.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training.
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license.
  • Licensed Mortgage Loan Originator as required by state.
  • Possess general mortgage banking understanding, including lock procedures, program analysis, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory timelines.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email.
  • Ability to sit for the majority of an 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.
  • The noise level is generally moderate.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record a large volume of data.
  • Ability to act as a team player and be willing to accept constructive criticism.
  • Bilingual preferred.
