Job Title: Grant Accounting Specialist

Puget Sound Educational Service District is seeking a highly skilled Grant Accounting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our financial team, you will be responsible for providing budgeting, monitoring, and auditing services for our governmental grants, contracts, and non-grant agency programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer accounting activities, including procurement cards and commuter cards, to monitor expenditures and reconcile activities.
  • Analyze systems, Federal and State policies, and procedures to improve business practices and efficiencies.
  • Audit fiscal documents and program information to ensure accuracy and compliance with program regulations and grant requirements.
  • Compile statistical and financial data from various sources to provide information and ensure compliance with established Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate with other staff to complete assigned duties accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Embodies the principles and practices that form our culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization.
  • Maintain various manual and electronic documents, files, and records to provide an up-to-date reference, reconciliation, budget management, and compliance audits.
  • Monitor assigned activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial, legal, administrative, and/or program standards, budget, and grant/contract requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Prepare written materials to obtain necessary agency funding, manage cash flow, document activities, convey information, and comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Process financial information to ensure the accuracy of reported information and the availability of funds in compliance with state and/or federal regulations.
  • Research discrepancies of financial information and/or documentation to ensure accurate and complete subsidiary and general ledger accounts.
  • Respond to inquiries from external and internal customers to provide information or direction related to grant and accounting procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison with external parties, including King County, banks, actuaries, state examiners, investment advisors, Office of Superintendent of Public Instructions, Office of State Auditor, Federal and State agencies, to provide necessary information and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in a job-related field or High School diploma/GED and minimum of three (3) years of job-related experience.
  • Experience in accounting, financial management, or related area.
  • Experience working with or knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
