The Director of Safety will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safety policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:- Safety Program Development: Design, implement, and manage company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential hazards.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses. Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Training & Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels. Promote continuous safety education and awareness.
- Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Train employees on emergency preparedness and response.
- Reporting: Prepare and present safety reports to senior management, outlining key metrics, trends, and areas of concern.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the safety team, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, and best practices in safety and health.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Proficient in safety management software and MS Office applications.
- Personal Attributes:
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
