Position Overview

If you enjoy fostering the development of social and coping skills in children, consider joining our team at The Village for Families & Children. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with children both individually and in group settings, supporting their growth and celebrating their achievements.

Work Schedule:
Weekend shifts from 7 AM to 3 PM. The compensation for this position starts at $20.50 per hour, with an additional $1.50 per hour for hours worked during the night shift.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Engagement
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children through vigilant supervision and the application of various therapeutic strategies, including crisis intervention techniques.
  • Act as a positive role model for children.
  • Deliver trauma-informed care and interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide safe transportation for children to and from activities.
  • Engage with children in a nurturing and therapeutic manner.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate therapeutic group sessions.
Administrative Duties
  • Implement strategies that enhance problem-solving skills and promote personal growth.
  • Document interventions and significant incidents promptly and accurately.
  • Perform additional tasks to ensure the physical and emotional needs of children are met and that the program operates smoothly.
  • Assist in planning and supervising daily activities for clients, including morning and evening routines.
  • Identify and rectify safety hazards within the environment.
  • Complete other assigned responsibilities as needed.
Professional Development
  • Participate in program and agency committees or initiatives.
  • Engage in supervision and training opportunities to foster professional growth and skill development.
  • Attend staff meetings, training programs, and workshops as required.
  • Maintain necessary certifications and training as mandated by the agency.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma with four years of relevant experience; a bachelor's degree with some experience is preferred; or an associate's degree with two years of relevant experience.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and three years of driving experience is required. Ability to obtain necessary certifications such as Public Service License, Medication Administration Certification, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Certification, and First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Understanding of child development principles and the impact of abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to manage stress and respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Cultural competence to serve a diverse population.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software, along with general computer skills.
  • Physical capability to perform essential job functions, including supervising groups of children and executing physical interventions when necessary.
