Job Title: Child Life Specialist

At Connecticut Children's, we are seeking a skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team. As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing psychosocial support to pediatric patients and their families, promoting optimal cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development during hospital stays.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess the needs of children and their families, taking into consideration each child's family, culture, and stage of development.
  • Provide children and their families with a variety of developmental, therapeutic, and educational opportunities to minimize stress and anxiety.
  • Develop and implement activities, resources, and programs to meet patient and family needs.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide essential life experiences for children, fostering continued growth and development during their hospital stay.
  • Effectively communicate observations, assessments, and recommendations for care to other members of the healthcare team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a directly related field in behavioral sciences or human development.
  • 600-hour Child Life Internship required.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist, issued through Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP), within one year of hire.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training certification required within one year of hire and maintained thereafter.
