The QTI Group is collaborating with a prominent organization to recruit a Senior General Ledger Accountant.
Position Overview:
This newly established role will report directly to the Director of Accounting and will be responsible for the daily corporate accounting functions while serving as a GAAP authority for a diverse property portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Accounting:
Execute month-end and general ledger accounting tasks, implementing best practices to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded in compliance with GAAP for a multi-entity structure.
This includes:
- Maintaining comprehensive financial records and workpapers.
- Conducting month-end close activities, including complex bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Performing budget versus prior year variance analysis.
- Reviewing and approving accounts payable invoices.
- Monitoring cash flow for unusual activities or liquidity requirements.
- Processing billbacks to entities for shared expenses.
- Reviewing and approving credit card transactions and other corporate expenditures.
Property Accounting:
- Overseeing month-end reviews of trial balances and financial statements for all entities/properties, addressing any identified issues with accounting personnel.
- Potentially managing full-cycle accounting for select entities/properties.
Additional Accounting and Compliance Duties:
- Act as a GAAP expert, researching accounting standards as needed.
- Provide guidance on the capitalization or expensing of repairs, maintenance expenses, and fixed assets.
- Facilitate the administration of the month-end timeline.
- Manage sales tax filings for assigned entities.
- Assist with tax returns, audits, and compliance, preparing necessary workpapers for external tax accountants.
- Support insurance renewal processes with required documentation.
- Engage in process improvement initiatives and training for accounting team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP accounting is essential, particularly in a multi-entity context.
- Proficient in accounting systems, Excel, and technical data management skills.
- Experience in real estate or property management accounting is advantageous.
