Axiom Space has been selected by NASA to create the next-generation astronaut spacesuits for lunar missions under the Artemis program.

These state-of-the-art spacesuits, developed by Axiom Space, will equip astronauts with enhanced capabilities for space exploration, while also providing essential human systems for operating, living, and working in microgravity environments as well as on and around the Moon.


The Space Communications Engineer will collaborate with team members and external partners to define and design communication systems for space-to-space and space-to-ground operations, including the necessary licensing.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role is crucial in the design and specification of RF communication systems for commercial human spaceflight modules.
  • Responsibilities encompass liaising with NASA and commercial partners to establish communication requirements, reflecting our core value of collaboration.
  • Perform calculations for RF link budgets and system performance, showcasing our commitment to cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist in acquiring necessary licenses from the FCC or other relevant agencies, aligning with our core value of integrity and demonstrating our ethical standards.
  • Support NASA milestone evaluations including PDR, CDR, SDR, FRR, etc., reflecting our commitment to organizational support.

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering, mathematics, or a STEM-related field is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in RF systems design (preferably in support of space missions) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in spectrum management and RF spectrum regulations and licensing.
