Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at Highmark Health. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for pricing quotes and analyzing the structure of contracts for groups based on claims experience, employee group characteristics, and other relevant factors.

You will use your discretion and underwriting authority within the policies of HMIG to ensure appropriate levels of profitability and growth over time. This includes identifying when to decline quotes that do not fit into the overall HMIG strategy and risk structure.

You will analyze risk factors for new enrollments, annual renewals, and amendments of group insurance contracts or self-funded plans in conformance with established underwriting policies, practices, and standards.

You will also analyze associated policies, guidelines, market data to continuously improve risk management and gain appropriate enrollment or manage existing membership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pricing quotes and analyzing contract structures
  • Using underwriting authority to ensure profitability and growth
  • Analyzing risk factors for new enrollments and renewals
  • Improving risk management and enrollment strategies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business, or Computer Science
  • Excellent math aptitude and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and assume responsibility for projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders
