Job Summary

The Clinical Exercise Physiologist plays a vital role in the Cardiac Rehabilitation team at UNC Medical Center. This position requires a strong foundation in exercise physiology, with a focus on developing and implementing exercise prescriptions for patients with various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and demonstrate a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess exercise therapy needs using standardized practice and critical thinking.
  • Conduct exercise testing and monitoring, recognizing potential medical problems and collaborating with the healthcare team to resolve these issues.
  • Develop and implement exercise prescriptions, modifying them as needed based on patient progress.
  • Provide patient education on exercise principles, disease management, and risk factor modification.
  • Document all aspects of exercise therapy in the medical record.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP) certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • One year of experience working in a clinical exercise setting.
