Role Summary:

In the capacity of Quality Manager, you will be pivotal in upholding the utmost standards of quality and dependability within our automotive production processes. Your responsibilities will encompass the formulation and execution of quality control strategies, supervision of inspection protocols, and collaboration with various teams to foster ongoing enhancements. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in automotive quality management, exceptional attention to detail, and the capability to spearhead quality initiatives.

Reporting Structure:

Reports directly to the VP of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Management System:
    • Design, implement, and sustain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
    • Ensure adherence to ISO and other pertinent quality certifications.
  2. Process Development and Enhancement:
    • Partner with engineering and production teams to establish and refine quality control processes throughout the production lifecycle.
    • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eradicate defects and inefficiencies.
  3. Inspection and Testing:
    • Formulate and oversee inspection procedures, ensuring all automotive components and final products meet established quality benchmarks.
    • Develop testing protocols for materials, components, and finished vehicles.
    • Conduct time studies and propose strategies for efficiency improvements.
  4. Supplier Quality Management:
    • Collaborate with the supply chain team to set and uphold stringent supplier quality standards.
    • Perform regular audits and evaluations of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  5. Quality Metrics and Reporting:
    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and report on the effectiveness of the quality management system.
    • Provide management with regular reports on quality performance, highlighting trends and areas for enhancement.
  6. Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action:
    • Lead investigations into quality issues, performing root cause analysis to identify fundamental problems.
    • Develop and implement corrective and preventive measures to address identified issues and avert recurrence.
  7. Training and Development:
    • Conduct training sessions to ensure all relevant personnel comprehend and adhere to quality standards and procedures.
    • Promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.
  8. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay informed about industry regulations and standards related to automotive quality.
    • Ensure that the organization remains compliant with all applicable quality and safety requirements.
  9. Leadership Responsibilities:
    • Manage and guide a small quality control team, providing mentorship and performance feedback.
    • Cultivate a collaborative and results-driven team culture focused on achieving quality objectives.
    • Ensure effective communication and coordination within the quality control team and across other departments.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Specialized training and proven success in applying quality problem-solving techniques, such as fishbone diagrams and/or 8D, along with implementing effective countermeasures.
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis capabilities, including process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, and similar methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and executing a quality control program.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of measurement and inspection techniques.
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent oral, written, editing, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Openness to constructive feedback.
  • Willingness to work independently or collaboratively.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related discipline; additional certifications (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma) are advantageous.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a quality assurance role within a similar industry.
  • In-depth understanding of quality management systems, standards, and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action methodologies.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of operating various equipment including computers and office machinery.
  • Adhere to required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk or computer.
  • Capable of walking long distances across the shop floor to communicate and gather information as necessary.
  • Must be able to navigate through different departments of the organization.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Occasional reaching overhead and below knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Ability to work extended hours in varying temperatures.
