Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Steward to join our team at Washington Marriott Capitol Hill. As a Steward, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen and dining areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen cleaning equipment, including dishwashers and sanitizers.
  • Store clean dishes, utensils, and equipment in designated areas, ensuring they are easily accessible and organized.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of kitchen work areas, including floors, counters, and equipment.
  • Restock supplies, such as food, utensils, and cleaning materials, in serving stations, cupboards, and refrigerators.
  • Sweep and mop floors, and clean trash cans to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.
  • Assist with food preparation during peak periods or in the event of staffing shortages.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of guest satisfaction, working to increase departmental and overall guest satisfaction scores.
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to our EarthView program.
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment, and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous stewarding experience required or equivalent training.

Work Environment and Context

  • Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays, weekends, and other non-traditional hours.
  • Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and reaching.
