POSITION SUMMARY
The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for sampling and evaluating processed aggregates, asphalt, and concrete to ensure quality standards are met. This role requires travel to various work sites within the state and occasionally to neighboring states.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct laboratory tests on aggregates, asphalt, and concrete using standardized methods.
- Collect, test, and document material samples, ensuring quality throughout the testing process.
- Perform field tests at construction project sites.
- Maintain professional interactions with clients, partners, and colleagues.
- Follow all safety protocols and use protective equipment, demonstrating safe work practices and completing necessary safety training.
- Keep precise and organized records (both written and electronic) of testing results.
- Assist with research, data collection, field observations, inspections, and both field and laboratory testing.
- Obtain and maintain required certifications relevant to the position.
- Safely operate nuclear gauges in compliance with company procedures.
- Accept guidance and direction from senior staff.
- Maintain qualifications necessary to operate company vehicles.
- Prioritize safety by adhering to all OSHA/MSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Required ATTI Certifications.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in aggregate, asphalt, or concrete lab and field testing on road construction projects.
- Preferred: Relevant job-related certifications.
- Valid Driver's License is mandatory.
- Acceptable MVR as per company vehicle policy is required.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Basic math skills are essential.
- Strong communication and computer skills are necessary.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 65 lbs regularly.
- Capability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
