Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is $142,500 - $213,700. This represents a general guideline based on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
About the JobWe are seeking a Staff Aerodynamics and Stores Separation Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida, and will involve performing aerodynamic characterization efforts utilizing analytical methods.
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and oversee wind tunnel tests, including two-body separation tests.
- Conduct aircraft separation analyses.
- Stand up, develop, and manage tools for conceptual design and aircraft grid creation, and perform Captive Trajectory Support (CTS) analysis.
- Support conceptual and preliminary design efforts of aircraft and components.
- Produce analysis products that calculate aerodynamic loads on separating bodies.
This role requires a strong understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals, CFD techniques, and wind tunnel testing, including two-body separation tests. The ideal candidate will have experience partnering with a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop aircraft and subsystems in support of aerodynamic stores integration.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 12 years of relevant experience, or a Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 10 years of relevant experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- The ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
- Experience partnering with a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop aircraft and subsystems in support of aerodynamic stores integration.
- Previous experience with onsite support of wind tunnel testing and data acquisition systems.
