Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Commissioning Startup Manager to join our team. As a Commissioning Startup Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the process of construction contractor completion turnover to startup, startup turnover to operations, and final turnover to the client.

You will develop and maintain a detailed startup schedule and detailed set of startup packages prepared by the General Contractor to track Startup completion and progress. You will also manage and maintain open communications and relationship with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain open communications and relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Develop clear startup procedures as required by contract to coordinate the startup effort.
  • Plan and prepare for startup activities and major milestones (chemical cleaning, demonstration tests, etc.).
  • Implement a coordinated operations control program ensuring good communication and the smooth execution of operational activities.
  • Create and implement controls process for spares, consumables, outstanding work, and material deliveries.
  • Coordinate the daily activities effecting and involving startup.
  • Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities.
  • Identify and assess improvement opportunities which will add value.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assess and support the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
  • Proactively support, encourage and facilitate staff to engage in continuous improvement activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of startup experience, including five years as startup manager.
  • Wastewater Treatment Plant startup experience.

Work Environment:

This position is considered a safety sensitive position. The typical construction site environment requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions. The position also requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
