Job Summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking a highly qualified Computer Science Teacher to join our team. As a Computer Science Teacher, you will be responsible for implementing and developing our curriculum, as well as the success of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Implementation: Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
  • Assessment Design: Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.
  • Curriculum Refinement: Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
  • Collaboration: Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
  • Student Behavior: Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior.
  • Academic Accountability: Be accountable for students' mastery of academic standards.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Professional Development: Participate in an annual three-week staff orientation and training.
Qualifications
  • Passion for Education: Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom.
  • Teaching Experience: Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects.
  • Team Player: Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Teaching Experience: Minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred.
  • Certification: Valid State Certification is helpful but not required.
