Position Overview

The role of the Middle School Science Teacher involves collaborating with grade-level teams to equip students with essential scientific knowledge and skills. Central to our approach is fostering a passion for science through inquiry-based learning and encouraging student participation in discourse. Our educators utilize diverse teaching methods to ignite curiosity and analytical thinking in their students, preparing them for the academic challenges of high school.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instructional Delivery

  • Implement an interdisciplinary curriculum aligned with NGSS, covering critical topics such as climate systems, astronomy, energy transformations, and ecological dynamics.
  • Encourage students to engage in scientific practices, including questioning, modeling, and conducting experiments.
  • Utilize your enthusiasm for science to build student confidence and foster meaningful engagement.
  • Highlight the interconnectedness of scientific disciplines and their relevance to both local and global contexts.

2. Data-Driven Instruction

  • Collaborate weekly with leadership to assess student performance and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Employ differentiated teaching techniques to cater to the diverse learning needs of all students.

3. Cultivating School Culture

  • Establish positive relationships with students to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Engage with families to ensure that students have access to necessary resources for their educational success.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote community and student achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to set academic goals and refine instructional practices.

  • Required Experience:
    • Experience working with K-12 students in urban settings (1-2 years preferred).
    • Strong academic background in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
    • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required prior to employment. Certification is not mandatory at hiring, but candidates must meet state certification eligibility requirements.

Compensation: The starting salary for this position ranges from $50,000 to $64,700, based on relevant experience and qualifications.
