Atlanta Legal Aid Society is in search of a
Senior Legal Manager for its
Gwinnett County branch. Our organization is dedicated to providing legal representation to individuals with limited financial resources across various legal domains, including family law, housing, consumer rights, employment issues, health care, public benefits, and educational law. In addition to direct legal assistance, our office manages several initiatives, such as the Gwinnett Family Violence Initiative, the Gwinnett Family Law Clinic, and the Gwinnett Pro Bono Initiative. The office operates in a collaborative environment with a team that includes a senior legal manager, multiple full-time attorneys, a part-time attorney, paralegals, and support personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Legal Manager oversees the comprehensive management, quality assurance, and effectiveness of the office's operations. This role involves delegating and supervising staff activities, conducting team meetings, performing performance evaluations, and promoting professional growth and development. The Senior Legal Manager collaborates closely with the management team to enhance client services, acts as a primary representative of the organization within the Gwinnett County community, and nurtures relationships with local judicial and legal entities, governmental bodies, community organizations, and funding sources. Additionally, the Senior Legal Manager is expected to maintain an active caseload.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a valid Georgia bar license or be eligible for the upcoming Georgia bar examination, along with a minimum of five years of litigation experience in diverse legal settings. Experience in managing personnel, including supervising and mentoring attorneys, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional legal writing and oral advocacy capabilities, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and organizational proficiency. The ability to thrive in a collaborative, hybrid team environment and a commitment to diversity are crucial. Experience working with low-income populations and familiarity with various civil practice areas are preferred. Proficiency in languages other than English is highly regarded.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $65,100+ based on experience, along with an annual manager stipend of $4,000. Salaries are subject to annual increases according to a structured salary scale.

Our organization offers comprehensive benefits, including 13 paid holidays, 6 weeks of paid time off, 6 weeks of parental leave, health, life, and long-term and short-term disability insurance; partial coverage for dependent health insurance; a flexible spending account salary reduction option; educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month (after adjusting for other reimbursement amounts); a voluntary tax-sheltered annuity with a 3% match; and coverage for Georgia Bar dues and CLE expenses.

Atlanta Legal Aid Society supports a hybrid work model, allowing staff to work remotely for 2 days a week, subject to management approval and a probationary employment period.
