Licensing and Certification:
Applicants must possess Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Law Enforcement certification, successfully pass a criminal history check, psychological evaluation, and polygraph test, along with holding a valid Georgia driver's license.
Educational Background:
An Associate's degree in a relevant field is required, or the candidate must be willing to obtain one within three years of employment.
Experience:
A minimum of five years of law enforcement experience is necessary.
Skills:
Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, the ability to listen and respond to the needs of others, and a capacity to work within a school environment alongside students, educators, and community members. Additionally, candidates should be able to teach topics related to law enforcement, safety, and crime prevention.
- Support the local school administration in creating a safe and secure environment for students.
- Act as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement agencies.
- Facilitate communication among school administration, staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Promote positive relationships between youth and law enforcement to reduce juvenile delinquency.
- Assist in developing safety plans and conducting emergency drills.
- Maintain written records of incidents and collaborate with social services when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Employees must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, and responding to emergencies. The role requires physical strength and stamina to manage various situations effectively.
