Overview: The Chief of Emergency Services is responsible for providing strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the Emergency Department Service Line, ensuring the fulfillment of clinical, research, and educational objectives.

The individual in this role will report directly to the Chief of Staff and act as a vital clinical advisor to the Medical Center Director and the Chief of Staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Leadership: The Chief will oversee the administrative, clinical, and programmatic functions of the department, ensuring the attainment of clinical, research, and educational targets. This includes:

  • Conducting hands-on clinical work and managing all aspects of the service, including a robust research program and providing guidance and training for residents and other trainees.
  • Utilizing feedback from patients and staff to inform planning and direct continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with standards set by various accrediting and regulatory bodies.
  • Promoting and supporting research and educational missions, facilitating the application of research findings to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Managing the financial aspects of the service, including budget planning and oversight.
  • Collaborating with other department leaders to develop and implement the Medical Center's strategic and business plans.
  • Fostering a team of innovative and motivated professionals dedicated to excellence in patient care and service.
  • Handling personnel matters related to promotions, selections, training, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintaining effective communication with staff, patients, families, and stakeholders.

Clinical Expertise: The Chief will serve as a leading consultant in health promotion and disease prevention, employing advanced clinical knowledge to:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate programs aimed at promoting healthy behaviors among staff.
  • Demonstrate clinical judgment and engage in practice-based learning to enhance patient care.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills to build professional relationships with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Uphold professionalism through continuous development and ethical practice.
  • Apply systems-based knowledge to optimize healthcare delivery.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent, a full and unrestricted medical license, and completed residency training in an accredited specialty program. Proficiency in English is required.
