Overview: The Chief Physician of Emergency Services is responsible for providing strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the Emergency Department. This role is pivotal in achieving the objectives related to clinical excellence, research initiatives, and educational programs.

The individual in this position will report directly to the Chief of Staff and act as a vital clinical advisor to the Medical Center Director and the Chief of Staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Leadership:

  • Oversee administrative, clinical, and programmatic functions to ensure the fulfillment of clinical, research, and educational objectives.
  • Engage in hands-on clinical responsibilities while managing all aspects of the department, including a robust research program and mentorship for residents and trainees.
  • Utilize feedback from patients and staff to inform planning and enhance service delivery.
  • Direct efforts towards continuous quality improvement in patient care and ensure compliance with standards set by regulatory bodies.
  • Promote and support research and educational missions, facilitating the application of research findings to improve patient outcomes.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the department, including budget development and oversight.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to align with the Medical Center's strategic and operational plans.
  • Foster a team of motivated professionals dedicated to excellence in patient care and service delivery.
  • Handle personnel matters such as promotions, selections, and training related to the department.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, and other stakeholders.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a consultant in health promotion and disease prevention, utilizing advanced clinical knowledge to design and evaluate health programs.
  • Ensure that practice-based learning and improvement are integral to the department's operations.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills to build professional relationships with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Exhibit professionalism through a commitment to continuous development and ethical practice.
  • Apply systems-based practice knowledge to enhance healthcare delivery.
